Privacy Policy

We only request information needed to respond to program inquiries and support customers. We do not sell personal information.

Organization selections are saved in your browser so your chosen community remains visible while you browse. You can clear this by changing your choice or clearing browser storage.

Website statistics

To understand which pages are useful, we record anonymous visit statistics on our own systems: the page viewed, the general source of the visit (for example Facebook or a search engine), and when a book is added to the cart or checkout begins. These records use a random browser code that resets every 30 days. We do not store your name, email, IP address or payment details in these statistics, and they are deleted after about 13 months.

Saved carts and cart reminders

To let you pick up where you left off, the books in your cart, the organization you chose and the general visit source are saved on our systems under a random cart code. This contains no name, email, IP address or payment details, and is deleted after about 90 days of inactivity. Emptying your cart clears it.

If you choose (the box is never pre-checked), you can give us an email address for one reminder about an unfinished cart. We record the wording you agreed to and the date. We send at most one reminder, only after about two hours of inactivity and only if Square shows your order was not paid. This does not subscribe you to any newsletter. You can cancel it in the cart or with the link in the email, and the email address is deleted within 30 days.

Email updates

Joining Shorty’s Adventure Club is completely voluntary. We collect your first name (optional), your email address and, if you choose, the type of books you are interested in. You may also opt in to email updates at checkout or after an order; the box is never pre-checked, and buying a book never subscribes you automatically.

When you subscribe we record the date and time of your consent, the wording you agreed to and where you signed up, as required for Canadian anti-spam (CASL) express consent. We use this information only to send news about new books, releases, giveaways, behind-the-scenes updates and other news from C.C. Veniott. We do not sell or rent subscriber information.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing shorty@shortythegiraffe.ca. Unsubscribing is immediate and stops all marketing email.
